The 1M1B Future Leaders Program: Destination UN

With our students working from home, it is imperative to provide them with avenues to enhance their extracurricular educational experiences through highly credible opportunities and platforms that help them build their skills and profile for a brighter future. Here is an opportunity by Collegify’s partner, 1 Million for 1 Billion Foundation (1M1B). A wonderful opportunity for students to lead from home during these challenging times, make some real impact and develop their leadership skills.

The 1M1B Future Leaders Program

Future Leaders is a program for finding and nurturing the world's most promising youth leaders into human centered leaders. 

Future Leaders are youth in high school and who have the potential to create meaningful influence on topics of relevance. Through a tested, researched, and intense process, these Future Leaders are given access to high impact opportunities and leadership coaching. Students work on addressing global issues through their projects to create real positive impact. At the end of the program students emerge as human-centered leaders who prioritize human values and morals over business and profits.

Students who create sustainable impact are given the opportunity to represent India and showcase their work at the 1M1B Activate Impact Summit at the United Nations headquarters in New York!

Over 300 students have undergone the Future Leaders program in the last 4 years and over 120 students have showcased their work at the United Nations through 5 editions of the Activate Impact Summit. The 1M1B summits in the past have been covered live by UN Web TV and attended in person by over 150 people including senior staff from the United Nations, country ambassadors, journalists, key influencers, leaders from large corporations, foundations.

An opportunity to become a youth influencer!

1M1B in partnership with Collegify is looking for promising youth leaders working on problems related to climate change, education, health, poverty and human rights who can be nurtured as Future Leaders and raise their voice as a young influencer at the 6th 1M1B Activate Impact Summit at the United Nations!

Who we are looking for?

If you have an actionable project and a vision to bring positive change to the world aligned with the United Nation’s sustainable development goals (SDG’s), we want to work with you. Don’t worry if your model or prototype or resume isn’t perfect. What matters is that you are committed to the problem you are solving and now ready to make a big impact.

• Purpose & Passion: We want to understand what calls you, why you care deeply about this issue and your community
• Dealing with Failure: Demonstrate how you foresee challenges and avoid or bounce back from them
• Demonstrated Leadership: Do you have an actionable project? Have you demonstrated early impact aligned with the UN SDGs? Can you lead your project toward its goals and scale? What unique skills and experiences will help you succeed? Are you coachable?
• Ability to Attract Resources: Show us that you can attract money, people and other resources to your cause.

The program includes:

• 15 hours of online classroom sessions
• 10 hours of online mentoring
• 3 hours of classroom session in New York
• 3 hours of networking mixer in New York
• 1-hour tour of the United Nations, New York
• 3 hours of participation and presentation at the 1M1B Activate Impact Summit at the United Nations, New York
