Overlooking the Potomac river in Washington D.C. and in close proximity to Capitol Hill sits the urban campus of Georgetown University, a highly selective and academically rigorous private institution. Apart from it’s strength on the academic front, the University’s felicitous location in the heart of Washington, D.C., facilitates prestigious internship opportunities at Capitol Hill, National Institutes of Health, ABC News and the World Bank, among others. The celebrated Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown is one of the foremost schools globally for the study of International Affairs, boasting a long list of distinguished alumni. Perhaps the most famous of these is Bill Clinton, who graduated from SFS with a BSc. in Foreign Service n 1968.  

Students applying to Georgetown must select one of the four undergraduate colleges for their intended major, but have carte blanche access to the full range of curriculum, enabling them to take classes offered by any other college.

Georgetown College offers courses in arts, sciences, humanities, languages and the social sciences.

Mcdonough School of Business offers six majors including Accounting; Finance; International Business; Marketing; Management, Leadership & Innovation (MLI), and Operations & Information Management. There is a strong emphasis on learning through business case studies, entrepreneurship and study abroad opportunities at ESADE and Oxford.

The prestigious Walsh School of Foreign Service (SFS), offers a variety of programs in international affairs, regional and comparative studies. Students receive incredible exposure in the form of potential interaction with mid-career politicians studying at the graduate school, learning from the accomplished faculty who have previously served or are currently serving in the government, and a wealth of internship opportunities at policy making institutions in the city.

For those interested in the managerial, administrative and delivery side of Healthcare, The School of Nursing and Health Studies, offers degrees such as Health Care Management and Policy; International Health; and Nursing, among others.

Admission to Georgetown has become increasingly competitive, with acceptance rates dropping to 17% recently. Roughly half of the admitted applicants in 2013, were ranked in the Top 3 of their high school class. The college’s selectivity is also reflected in the high average SAT scores: the middle 50% scores range from 690 and 760 for Critical Reading, and 680 to 770 for Math.
